The Meg: Producer Catherine Xujan Ying Confirms Sequel In The Making
Jason Statham’s ‘The Meg’ came out on 10th August taking us back to shark-infested waters in the ‘old’ days. The movie showed us what was probably the biggest shark of all times in a Hollywood movie. It was based on a book by Steve Alten with Jason Statham leading the fight against a prehistoric creature that was thought to be extinct.
The Megalodon attacks a deep-sea submersible and leaves its crew trapped at the bottom of the Pacific. As the struggle to restrain one, another one pops up to only decrease their chances of survival.
The Meg received a mixed baggage of reactions from both the critics and the audience and it appeared to be just a single movie “Meg’ movie in the Hollywood’s long-list of shark thrillers. But Gravity Pictures recently confirmed that there are plans of making a sequel to the sci-fi thriller.
According to reports, producer Catherine Xujan Ying confirmed that the production house has plans to make a sequel to the first movie. Catherine further added that the new project is in “the early stages” of development and the team is working hard to keep things under wrap. Many reports suggest that producer Belle Avery had purchased the rights for the books, the film was based on and ‘The Meg’ themed amusement parks are already under construction in China. All these news direct us to one single conclusion and that is- Gravity Pictures are aiming at building The Meg into a full-fledged franchise.
