Pakistan Minister Turns Cat Filter On During Press Conference, Sends People On Twizzy

While India beat Pakistan for the 7th time in their world cup clashes, it was Pakistan’s social media that became the highlight of the whole situation. The memes and vids flowing in like a flood, they kept us entertained for long. And now we have another video of a Pakistani government official who accidentally turned on ‘cat filter’ during Facebook Live and it all goes live. You can pretty much guess the rest.

The incident happened when the provincial government of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held a press conference. The live stream of regional minister Shaukat Yousafzai talking to local journalists was turned on and someone forgot to turn off the ‘cat filter’. What followed was a hilarious press conference that got a huge viewership across the country.

This is a golden chance to take to the comment section of the stream and that’s what Facebook users did! One said, “a cat in the cabinet.” Others were specific and creative, “ShaukatYousafzai looks like a cat – Meow Meow Meow.”

The video was soon removed from the official Facebook page of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. But, many took the screenshots and they shall remain on the Internet for years to come.

The senior minister in the video, Yousafzai confirmed the incident to the local news channel, “The cat filter was turned on by mistake, let’s not take everything so seriously.” And people took his advice, taking to social media to show their “seriousness” on the incident.

Yousafzai further added, “I wasn’t the only one – two officials sitting along me were also hit by the cat filter.”

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party soon released a “clarification” of the incident and posted it on their social media.

But it’s hard to stop the meme train once it gets going…
