'Avengers: Endgame' Russo Brothers Confirm First Screening
Avengers: Endgame has been screened! That’s right! The test screening of the movie has been done multiple times and the movie is still three hours long. But what’s astonishing is the fact that no one from the audience got up to go to the washroom during the filming. That has seriously got us excited.
In an interview, Joe said that they are “still at the three- hour mark.” He refused to give any further details if the film could be cut down in the weeks leading up to the release date. But he did say that the studio is pleased with how the film is turning out and also, they’ve heard positive reviews from the test audience.
“I think the studio is down with what the best story is,” Joe said. “Right now, we think the movie is playing well and we’ve had great responses from our test audiences and we’re feeling very good about where it is. We’re still doing work to it. We’re not done with it. Again, this is a culmination film of 22 movies, it’s a lot of storytelling to work into it. Emotion is an intrinsic part of that to us. When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate. This one, in particular, feels like three hours worth of real estate.”
The Russo brothers have talked about the film’s length before too. Last November, Joe took to Instagram and said, “The running time one Avengers 4 is currently sitting right at three hours.” Joe also admitted that he has no clue if the final movie would be this long. “We’ll see if that holds, but it’s sitting right at three hours right now,” he said.
Avengers: Endgame will mark the end of the MCU’s current phase and is set for 26 April release.
