Akki On Sooryavanshi: I Don't Want Comparison With Singham
The traction on Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif is gaining with each passing day. The Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi will see the return of hit Jodi Akshay-Katrina on the silver screen after a long time. This accompanied with the fact that we’ll be seeing Akki playing a cop is just getting us thrilled. One more thing that cannot be ignored is that it’s the first time Akshay and Rohit are working in a movie.
Akshay has stated his excitement to be working with Rohit but wants to avoid any comparison with Ajay Devgn. Since Sooryavanshi is a part of the cop universe Rohit is creating of which Ajay’s Singham and Ranveer’s Simmba, it seemed obvious that it would draw a comparison between the three actors.
According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, “Akshay had a series of meetings with Rohit Shetty about the action. The only way it made sense to do one more cop franchise under Rohit’s direction was to give the audience the kind of action they had not seen before.”
Another source revealed that “Since comparisons with Singham are inevitable, Akshay will be attempting stunts that Ajay has not down in the Singham franchise or Ranveer Singh in Simmba, It isn’t an attempt to be one-up. It’s just to keep Rohit Shetty’s cop universe updated and on its toes.”
Recently, Akshay Kumar shared pictures of him doing a bike stunt in Bangkok during the shoot. It is always fun and entertaining to watch Akki pull of some death-defying stunts in his movies and with Sooryavanshi, it seems Akki is raising the stakes altogether. Though, sources have said there are no attempts to one-up but it’s hard not to draw comparisons and since Ajay and Akki are both known for their stunts, it would be interesting to see how everything stakes up.
Meanwhile, it would be the return of Akshay and Katrina together on the silver screen after a really long time. A source close to the project revealed, “Akshay has always suggested Katrina for his movies, but she would turn them down because she was searching for a strong role. As Akshay’s wife in this film, she will play a vital part; a pillar of strength as he fights corruption.”
Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi was set for Eid 2020 release, clashing with Salman Khan’s Inshallah. But yesterday, Rohit updated that the date for Sooryavanshi release has been changed to avoid this clash. It will now release on March 27, 2020.
