2019 Maruti Suzuki Ignis: The Funky Old Car With New Price
After releasing the facelifted Baleno and all new Wagon R, Maruti Suzuki has launched a refreshed Ignis. The company announced the price for the updated model and said it will be continued to be sold from Maruti’s Nexa premium dealerships. This updated model starts at Rs 4.79 lakh but unlike the new Baleno, the Ignis doesn’t get any styling additions. It still looks the same as the one launched in 2017.
But it’s not like the updated model doesn’t get anything new except the pricing. Ignis now gets a reverse parking sensor, a speed alert system and a passenger side seatbelt reminder as standard. Along with that, the Zeta and Alpha variants now have roof rails as standards. Making sure the Ignis borrows nothing from its other family members, Maruti also fitted the Smartplay Infotainment system from the outgoing model. This was done instead of using the SmartPlay Studio introduced in the facelift Baleno and all-new Wagon R.
Maruti hasn’t touched the power system. It still gets the same 1.2-litre petrol engine churning 83hp and 113Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.
The new generation has been priced a notch up than the outgoing one at Rs 4.79 lakhs against Rs 4.67 lakhs. The top-spec Alpha MT will now cost you Rs 6.67 lakh against Rs 6.51 lakh of old one.
